November garden calendar
Here is November! Somewhere, he covered the earth with a stable snow cover, and somewhere still he pampered summer residents with relatively warm autumn days. Due to such a difference in weather conditions in different climatic zones for this month, it is difficult to recommend an accurate list of works in the garden and vegetable garden. However, an approximate list of agronomic techniques for the end of autumn still exists, and each gardener can be guided by him on the basis of the circumstances that nature gives him.

Harvesting
This recommendation is more suitable for southerners. It is they who still have to collect fruits and plant crops for the winter. Late varieties of cabbage, table beets, carrots, persimmons, medlar - the list is not so long, but it needs attention.
If there are still unripe berries on the remont raspberry at the beginning of the month - they can be cut with a sprig and put into water - they will ripen. Unripe cherry tomatoes are good to tear out with the roots and hang down with the "head" for ripening. You can try covering the late ripening strawberries with late varieties to cover the last crop with agrofibre.
Digging
If conditions allow, then in November you can still dig in the ridges. This technique guarantees the destruction of part of weeds, larvae of harmful insects, hiding on the remains of plant diseases. However, if the soil on the site is not heavy, it is better to limit it to loosening. And in no case at this time you should not dig up tree trunk trunks - damaged roots will not only not be restored, but will also affect the decrease in the general frost resistance of plants.
In good weather, you can still harvest land for growing spring seedlings, lay furrows on the slopes to hold snow and melt water, and prepare pits for spring planting of trees.
We take care of winter crops
In early November, in warm regions, it is time to sow carrots, beets, parsley, and spinach. Where it is colder - mulch winter crops.

We protect landings
With the onset of cold weather, it would be nice to cover with mulch not only crops sown since autumn, but also strawberries, near-stem circles of annual seedlings, perennials. However, this must be done no earlier than when the soil freezes to a depth of 5–8 cm, otherwise the plants may vytryat. (Peat, fallen leaves, spruce branches are suitable for “warming”.)
We fight garden pests
After leaf fall, you need to go through the garden and collect from the tree branches nests of the goldfish, ringed silkworm, hawthorn, and at the same time mummified fruits, since not only pests, but also pathogens winter there. If necessary, carry out sanitary pruning. To protect the garden from rodents, spread the poisoned baits against mice, and against the hares, wrap the lower part of the trunks with lapnik (needles down) or with a fine mesh.
Working with snow
Where November is snowy, the time has come not just to clean the paths in the garden, but to throw snow on the beds, to squeeze it from the branches of trees (so that the branches do not break off under its weight), to trample in tree-trunk circles (to destroy mouse passages).
If the snow has not yet fallen and there are winds in the summer cottage, you can build improvised shields for snow retention. These can be branches, large remains of plants, sheets of plywood and other barriers.
Check storage
In November, it would not be bad to inspect the storage facilities. Remove rotten fruit, look for rodent access to stocks, check humidity and temperature readings.
The average humidity of the basement or cellar should vary from 85 to 95%, the temperature should be kept in the region of + 1 ... + 5 ° C. If the humidity is higher - this is a signal in order to insulate the ventilation pipe and the roof of the store. If lower - it is necessary to put a box with wet sand in the room.
We hide inventory for the winter
At the end of the seasonal work, you need to competently take care of the garden tool. To clear it of the earth and rust, if necessary - to disinfect, and it is obligatory (at least the cutting parts) to grease with machine oil.
Do not leave water in barrels for the winter. It is necessary to collect and hide hoses and buckets in the barn. If you have an irrigation system, you need to remove the valves from it, disconnect the pipes, and blow.

Close compost heaps
In order to prevent decomposition processes for the winter in low-temperature manure and compost heaps, they should be preserved with a thick (30 cm) layer of earth. To accumulate winter waste, prepare a separate frame (pit or just a hole) for the new heap, and with it a supply of peat to pour compost, saving it from freezing. Warm small manure heaps with peat, sawdust or fallen leaves.
We clean the greenhouses
In November, it was time to complete the greenhouse season. For this, the greenhouses must be cleaned of plant residues, dig, disinfect.
If there is backlighting and heating in the greenhouses, in the last month of autumn it is already possible to sow seeds in them for seedlings, as well as green crops.
Planning next season
For those who are already resting from their summer cottages, November is a good time for planning plantings in the next year's beds. According to fresh memory, it is still easy to draw up a plan for crops planted in the past year and to outline what to plant in the coming season, taking into account compatibility and the predecessors of vegetables and greens. To do this, it’s good to have a notebook and record in it all the plans and changes on your site.
In addition, at the end of autumn it would not be bad to start studying new varietal offers of the market, bribing seeds, updating a set of work clothes, and possibly purchasing new garden tools.
