Two-source reed, or fallaris. Often planted near ponds. In culture, only the variegated form is used. It is with leaves that Falaris attracts attention - linear, green with white or cream stripes. In reality, this is not a flowering plant or grass, but an ornamental cereal. Reaches 90-120 cm in height.

Falaris grows well in sunny places, but can withstand shading. Prefers loose moist and moist soils. It is interesting that, along with this, the double source is an absolutely drought tolerant plant. Winter hardy. Even in severe frosts, leaves and stems do not droop, unless they lose their color. The plant easily tolerates a haircut to a height of 20-40 cm.

It has a feature that you should pay attention to when choosing a landing site. Falaris is an aggressor plant, that is, it grows very quickly, capturing territory. It is advisable to enclose the planting site, for example, with metal strips dug into the ground by 20 cm to prevent the rhizomes from spreading. Weeding will also help fight sprawl. You can grow fallaris in containers.

Spikelets are collected in thick brushes up to 20 cm in length. But the inflorescences are pruned, because they are not decorative. Flowering continues from July to October.

The double-spruce reed is propagated by seeds, cuttings, but easier - by dividing the bush.

Almost not affected by diseases and pests. In plantings, it goes well with other decorative cereals, irises, phlox. Used as a cover plant, as well as for cutting and in dry bouquets
